WVHHRA Scholarship Program

The West Virginia Healthcare Human Resources Association has established a scholarship program to help finance higher education for WVHHRA member organization employees and/or their children.  Awards are given without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability, national origin, sexual orientation and or gender identity.

Eligibility

Applicants must be employees or children of employees of WVHHRA member organizations.  Applicants must be high school seniors, high school graduates or college undergraduates enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited college, university, or hospital based training program ( such as radiology technology or medical sonography) and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  The student must be pursuing a health care related career.  Both two and four year programs are eligible. Students enrolled in direct  health care careers in a technical program (such as LPN or Surgical Technology) that are one year in length are also  eligible to apply.

Scholarship Awards

Awards are $500 each for one year and may be used for undergraduate study only.  Five scholarships are awarded annually.  Scholarships are funded by WVHHRA and by WVHHRA sponsors.

Recipient Selection

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals, and recommendations by references.

The scholarships awarded will be based on WVHHRA selection procedures and available funds.  Not all applicants will receive awards.
