PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

We are planning and exciting and rewarding year for our members.

Our Association’s purpose is to support you, the Human Resources professional and practitioner, in providing your organization with excellent HR services.

As in the past, we are reaching out not only to HR professionals in hospital settings but also to those who have human resources responsibilities with long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, physician practices, home health organizations, hospice providers and other organizations engaged in providing healthcare services in West Virginia.  Our organization is dedicated in taking a leadership role to support you and your organization regarding HR opportunities and issues.  We do this through:

  • Networking among our members.  If you have an idea, problem or concern and need input or feedback from other HR professionals and practitioners, we are the forum for those exchanges to take place.
  • Educating and developing our members.  We host an annual Fall Conference that brings in top-notch speakers to address our membership on a variety of HR topics and issues.
  • Advocating for our members and their organizations.  We work to influence regulatory and legislative activities at the state level to the benefit of our membership.  We are currently working with the Employer Immunity Bill.
  • Providing value-added services.   The WVHHRA sponsors an annual employee benefits survey. We have created a Members Services Committee for the purpose of surveying the needs of our membership and developing and recommending programs and activities to meet those needs.
  • Community investment.  Each year, our Association selects a community service project.  We also provide four $500 scholarships to students who are pursing a career in healthcare in 2006.
  • Professional Relationships.  Our Association comprises not only practicing HR professionals, but also individuals and firms that provide HR-related services and products.  These associate members have a great depth of knowledge and expertise in their given fields and provide a tremendous resource to our members.

I hope that by reading what we do and how we are involved in the healthcare HR profession, you realize how beneficial membership with our Association is.  We emphasize membership because adding members to our Association increases our diversity of ideas, knowledge base and ability to positively impact the HR profession in WV healthcare organizations. You will not regret becoming a part of our professional family.

If you are interested in membership, please download an application from the “Membership” link or contact any of our “Executive Committee” members.

Best of luck in your professional endeavors
