President's Message

Thank you for visiting the West Virginia Healthcare Human Resources Association Web Site.

We invite you to join your fellow Healthcare Human Resource associates in West Virginia, as well as the national connections that are available through ASHHRA. .   

We agree with the Strategic Plan of ASHHRA that defines our role:

  • Being a trusted and dependable resource
  • Linking a diverse and expansive healthcare community
  • Being leaders in healthcare HR workforce policy, advocacy and best practices
  • Developing and expanding resources and services, fostering the knowledge needed by our communities
  • Developing and advocating for a community of influencers
  • Collaborating with strategic partners on workforce issues.

For 2011 the WVHHRA Executive Committee is committed to the following Goals:

  • To continue to offer at least (5) $50 scholarships to West Virginia healthcare oriented college students
  • To increase regular membership by 10%
  • To reinvigorate the activity of the committees as outlined by the By-laws
  • To conduct one roundtable session
  • To conduct one board meting each quarter
  • Publish two newsletters.

Please consider attending our WVHHRA Annual Conference.  This year it is scheduled for the Flatwoods Conference Center, Sutton, WV. It will be held on Sept.15th and 16th, 2011.  Carol Tennant, from WVUH, is our President- Elect, and is this years Conference Chair.   Carol can be contacted at tennantc@wvuhealthcare.com.

Last year 67 attendees enjoyed knowledge packed education sessions, networking opportunities and FUN.   We again were able to offer this at an affordable cost due to the wonderful cooperation of our valued Vendors.
